Book Review - Since You’re Leaving Anyway, Take Out the Trash by Dixie Cash

Filed under: Book Review — Susan Hilliard at 7:18 pm on Sunday, May 8, 2005

“I felt like I was really in Texas with this one. The characters felt real and the pages were filled with slapstick humor. This book had me rooting for Debbie Sue to solve the case and pick the best man of her dreams too! Will it be ex-husband Sheriff Buddy Overstreet or rich & handsome Quint Matthews? Will Debbie Sue be able to find the true murder of Pearl Ann Carruthers and collect the reward?

This book delivered humor, adventure, and romance all bundled into one and kept me smiling until the very end! Excellent read! I’d recommend Dixie Cash’s “Since You’re Leaving Anyway, Take Out the Trash”.”

Book Jacket Description:

All Debbie Sue Overstreet got out of her marriage to the sheriff of Salt Lick, Texas, was a gas station that didn’t pump! So she turned the property into the Styling Station, the best beauty parlor in town — and if she didn’t get rich, at least she learned all the local gossip.

But she wasn’t prepared for the news that the nastiest woman in town had been bumped off! Suddenly, everyone’s a suspect and Debbie Sue decides to go after the reward … even if it means she’s got to get close to Buddy, that lousy, good-looking ex-husband of hers.

Debbie Sue’s investigation sends her on a wild ride. Who is the man named Eugene … and what’s with his alter-ego Janine? Where is the mysterious red-haired woman? Why is Buddy trying to get her back? And, scariest of all, when did she begin to think he could be right?

“Lisa Gardner has done a magnificent job in this spine chilling suspense thriller that kept me on the edge of my chair and kept me up into the wee hours reading only to get back up early and continue reading again… This is one of those books I couldn’t put down - a real-page turner! Excellent read!”
